When it comes to metabolic health, there are a number of services offering point solutions but few offer comprehensive tests across multiple health vectors. On the blood glucose front, there’s a handful of startups like Levels and January.ai building their own proprietary food logging and prediction algorithms on top of the same FDA-approved sensors. On the microbiome front, there are startups like Floré and Viome building at-home gut tests to recommend dietary changes. But how do health-minded individuals gain a comprehensive view of both their blood glucose levels and their gut health? Over the past two years, UK-based ZOE has seen 120k+ members leverage its suite of microbiome, blood fat, and glucose tests alongside its companion app and nutrition coaches with great success. In May, it published results of a 347-member study in Nature showing beneficial changes to cholesterol, blood pressure, weight, hunger levels, and more based on its program. This week, the startup just announced an additional $15mm injection from NYC-based Coefficient Capital to expand to the US, bringing its total funding to $118mm over the past seven years.
